The 24 hour course for Family Child Care Providers is required for individuals interested in starting a child care business in their home. We offer two options.

Option one. Take the entire 24 hour course for an affordable cost of $150. Includes all required Core of Knowledge Areas. A certificate will be awarded for successful completion of the 24 hour course requirements. 

Option two.  Take each of the 6 required Core of Knowledge modules individually for $30 each. Each Module will address one of the 6 required Core of Knowledge Areas: Child Development, Curriculum, Health, Safety & Nutrition, Special Needs, Professionalism, and Community. A certificate will be awarded for successful completion of each module.

Family Child Care Module 24 hour (2026)

The 24-Hour Course is for someone wanting to become a licensed MSDE/OCC Family Child Care Provider. The course includes 6 modules of training: child development, program curriculum, child health and safety, the care of children with disabilities, provider professionalism, and community resources. The training includes required reading of all materials, viewing videos, and completing assignments which will support your Family Child Care Business. All topics will support your business including understanding how children, learn, grow & develop. Participants will learn how to support your business practices and work with children and families which are critical to the success of your business. Training resources in this course provide a foundation for establishing a successful business. (CKO 4  CD, 4 PRO, 4 CUR, 4 SN, 4 COM, 4 HSN) The cost of this course is $150. 

This training is approved by MSDE and required by MSDE/OCC towards training requirements. Additional trainings are required including ADA, Basic Health & Safety, CPR, Emergency Preparedness, Medication, and the 9 Hour Communication. CMS provides all training requirements for this certification.
