First Year Family Child Care Provider Course (18 Hour) (2023)

This self paced 18 Hour course is required by MSDE for all  licensed Maryland family child care provider educators within their first year. This course meets the requirement to receive the 18 Hour training certificate. The core of knowledge areas in this course include curriculum, child development, health and safety, and professionalism with an emphasis on Working with Mixed Age groups. Course topics also include children's play, behavior strategies, child abuse and neglect, supportive environments and identifying components of professionalism. 

Prerequisite: You must be licensed by MSDE as a family child care provider. Participants are encouraged to create a resource  file folder to include important resources  for children and families. All course content must be completed with a minimum of 80% for successful completion and certificate. The cost of the course is $100.

This self paced 18 Hour course is required by MSDE for all  licensed Maryland family child care provider educators, who have been licensed for one year. This training meets the required training to receive  an 18 Hour training certificate. There are four core of knowledge areas in this course; curriculum, child development, health and safety, professionalism and  " Working with  Mixed Age groups". Course content will also include childrens play, behavior strategies, child abuse & neglect, supportive environments, working with multiple ages and identifying components of professionalsim.

The 18 Hour course is for first year Maryland family child care providers. You must complete this class before the end of the following month. The cost of the course is $100 through December 7th.
